July News ......

Dear Parents/Carers

As the end of term approaches, we have much news and updates.

You should all be aware that we have a FULL ESTYN INSPECTION in week commencing 8th July 2019 and you have all been cordially invited to meet with the inspectors on Monday 8th July at 2.30 pm.  We do hope you will be able to take advantage of this opportunity and come to share your thoughts and views.

On to the more fun side of summer, in the last week of term we have some end of term fun arranged.  Wednesday 17th July is the beach trip to Borth.  This is run within school hours so there is no change to transport.  We do however need your written permission so please either text in to the school phone on 07780123748 or email into help@bettwslifehouse.org.uk.  Without your permission, your child will not be able to go and that would be sad!

On Thursday 18th, we are planning a fun sports afternoon which normally ends with some kind of water fun!  Please send in a change of clothing as they do tend to get VERY wet! If they don’t have spare clothes we will ensure they are kept dry, as the taxi companies get upset with soggy seats!

On Friday 19th July (the last day) we are holding a presentation for our leavers and a performance by a few of the students to celebrate another great year of Lifehouse activity. You are all welcome to attend from 11.30 am to 12.30 pm.   Following this we will be having a light BBQ and snacks.  You will be welcome to take your child home at this point, just let us know. It would be helpful to know if your attending so we can cater for the right amount of people.

In the new term in September, we are introducing a ‘teamwear’ range that we would very much like our lower school pupils to take up.  Of course, we understand the sensory needs of many of them, but we hope this range will provide enough scope for everyone to find something that they like. There are examples in school if you would like to come and look and see the quality and you can order directly through school.  We will also be picking up email orders throughout the summer holidays. Please pay any amounts owing directly through BACS and you order will be placed as soon as the monies are in place. Upper school pupils are also very welcome to purchase items if they would find them useful.

Teamwear Range

Polo Shirt                                 Bottle Green                  £11

Polo Shirt                                 Grey                              £11

Set of Waterproofs                     Navy                            £18

School Coat                               Bottle Green                 £20

We are also looking into getting outdoor boots and wellingtons that are available through school but we have not yet sourced these.  Updates to follow!

Children can wear these in whatever combination they prefer (e.g.  Blue and Grey, Green and Grey, Grey and Green).  Trousers, jeans, leggings or skirts ae completely their own choice.

We hope you will find this a useful addition and that the children will also respond well to the team feel, and ease of choice.

The other big news we have is that in September we are splitting school formally onto two sites with Lower school (age 14 and below) remaining based at Bettws and Upper school (those on a qualification pathway) based at our new site in Welshpool. The address is Unit 2, Offas Dyke Business Park, Welshpool, Powys SY21 8JF.  The phone number is still the main school number and if you ring in the call can be transferred through our main reception.  The building we currently use as The Launchpad will no longer be in use. All transport requirements will be organised with county hall by us and the transport team but if you are a NEW pupil please make sure you have put in your initial request for transport in. Timings for the school day will be slightly different.
